Atheromatous plaque in the common carotid artery

A 50 year old Malay man walked in for a carotid ultrasound scan. The patient has a history of mild stroke and is currently under medication. Ultrasound showed a non-occlusive atheromatous plaque in the distal portion of the right common carotid artery, located about 1cm from the carotid bifurcation.
