Pulmonary bulla


There is a 5cm air-filled emphysematous space located at the right base. This is consistent with a bulla.
However, most bullae are in the upper lobe. This particular one is in the lower lobes. They may enlarge progressively over a period of months to years, most are associated with emphysema, may become infected or lead to pneumothorax.
