Schwannoma masquerading as metastases from lung cancer

PETCT was done for a 50 year old man as part of his assessment for solitary pulmonary nodule. The scan showed a 1.9cm nodule in the right para-cardiac region with SUVmax of 4.6
Interestingly, in the neck, there is a focus of FDG uptake in the right posterior cervical node. The node is enlarged, measuring 1.4cm in maximum dimension. The uptake in the cervical node measuring SUV max of 3.4.
A diagnosis of ca lung with metastases in the cervical node was made.
However, biopsy done on the lymph node showed a benign schwannoma.
