Child with a limp

An example of fracture of the distal half of the tibia, undisplaced and has a spiral pattern in children. This is also known as Toddler's fractures or childhood accidental spiral tibial (CAST) fractures. Commonly occurs in toddlers (aged 9 months-3 years) and other young children (less than 8 years). It occurs after low-energy trauma, sometimes with a rotational component. It is unlikely to be due to non-accidental injury or child abuse.
